This is a short poetry collection containing fifteen poems about depression, anxiety, and insomnia. I wrote these poems from experience after suffering from these three mental illnesses for a few years. I am in therapy for anxiety and depression and hope to be on medication for them very soon.

Both Walt Whitman and Johann Wolfgang Goethe destroyed much of their early works, and I often find myself wishing I could read what these two great poets wrote at the start of their incredible carriers. Fortunately, future devotees of Allison Canivan will have the benefit of her first work being published online; a copy of it is bound to survive. Hence, if she progresses on her current poetic path, her future admirers will be able to say, "Thus started a poetic genius."The work itself is a promising first collection. It is a book about depression, so readers seeking light-hearted literature should look elsewhere. However, a few rays of light do shine through in this endless night. Most moving is a poem about the joys of simply getting nine hours of sleep--something so many of us take for granted. Overall, it is an interesting window on an often misunderstood condition. Peculiar grammar and punctuation conventions contribute to the work's appeal, and they give it a distinctly modern atmosphere. Her play on punctuation also gives the collection a genuine, spontaneous feel, as if it had been written at midnight on a smartphone (perhaps it was; the possibility is hinted at in a few poems). Regardless of when or how it was written, "endless night." is an enlightening work that certainly deserves to see the light of day.

endless night a collection of poems about mental illness edition by Allison Canivan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
The poems are truly the work of an artist. This series is truthful and enlightening. I have never been much of a reader but this book is too good to stop reading.
Open yourself to absorb another world. Do not try to anticipate what is coming.
Accept that what is here is not something you know.
Here is an opening into a life we can not understand.
I need more from Allison, but she can only give what comes.
Thank you Allison.
